Westerns Henry Headed To Franklin & Marshall
Western's Henry headed to Franklin and Marshall
Western Albemarle’s Kent Henry has found his next destination.
After a storied high school career that included being the first two-time winner of Scrimmage Play’s Offensive Player of the Year award and a place among some of the most statistically productive quarterbacks in state history, Henry has taken his time figuring out where he’s going to play in college. He never really made his way on to the Division I radar, but it’s clear that Henry can help whatever team he’s going to join.
He’s picked a squad now, and Henry is headed to Pennsylvania to join Division III Franklin and Marshall’s squad. Henry picked Franklin and Marshall, a strong academic liberal arts college, in part because the school has his desired major of Geosciences.
“It just felt right,” Henry said. “All of the players and coaches were really nice and I have the chance to play early.”
The system Franklin and Marshall uses on offense is a perfect fit for Henry’s talents as the Diplomats run a spread/zone read system that Henry ran to near perfection for the Warriors the last three years.
E.J. Schneider, a senior from Delbarton in New Jersey, threw for 230.1 yards per game and rushed for 77.1 while accounting for 31 touchdowns as the Diplomats went 7-4 on the season.
With Schneider’s graduation, Henry will enter the mix with four other quarterbacks already projected to be on the roster.
Henry owns essentially all the Scrimmage Play-area passing records including career total yardage and career touchdowns as well as the career total offense mark. His 52 touchdowns as a senior is also an area-wide record. Henry threw for 7,124 yards and 84 touchdowns in three years as the starter while rushing for 3,640 yards and 47 touchdowns.
